WHAT A DOG-MA!

This is with reference to the Mumbai Mirror report 'DOGGONE IT!' on Oct 27. The story was nothing less than an Eye - opener. My family's first reaction was inexplicable. My younger sister cried reading this report. The condition of the dogs is something that i personally couldn't have imagined. Stray dogs or not, they do not deserve this type of treatment by any measure of imagination. The four college students deserve a pat on the back for taking the initiative and exposing the ridiculous treatment meted out to the strays. Being a teenager myself, these lads inspire me to do something similar for my society. Well done!

The authorities at KDMC may have carried out an inquiry into this matter, but do we know how many other stray camps have dogs in similar conditions? Plus, does this matter need an expose' for a simple Inquiry to be carried out? The condition at the stray camp, what with just one dog-catcher turned attendant that too ill-equipped, has to be in such bad shape if the running of the KDMC is this bad. In my opinion, the people living the area near the camp must storm the office of Dr. Nirmal Patil and mentally harass the fellow, until and unless the camp gets a makeover and the other surviving dogs must be relieved from their suffering, as soon as possible.

The report has caught the attention of lakhs of people, and i am pretty sure that your Mumbai Mirror Office will be flooded with letters filled with sympathy and rage. Once again, a job well done by the boys, and Mumbai Mirror.
